The Chicago Tribune's breaking news center is reporting that 61-year old Ronald Sims of Hazel Crest was killed while riding his bicycle in south suburban Ford Heights tuesday night. The bicycle vs. motor vehicle collision apparently occured around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2nd at the intersection of 11th Street and Cottage Grove.
This intersection is what is known as a "T Intersection" in that Cottage Grove runs north and south and westbound 11th Street dead ends into Cottage Grove forming a "T." Aerial photographs show that there are no traffic control signals for northbound or southbound Cottage Grove, but a stop sign for vehicles turning from 11th Street onto Cottage Grove.
No further details are reported at this time and Cook County Sheriffs are investigating.
