Redline D640 Bicycles Recalled

The United States Consumer Products Safety Commission has announced a recall of Redline's D640 mountain bike. The recall is due to the risk of the head tube separating from the frame. According to the CPSC, there have been eight reported incidents including four instances that resulted in injury.

In July Redline also recalled one of its Cyclocross bikes. At the time of that recall there were five reported incidents where the fork split near the crown of the fork. This could result in a rider falling and getting severely injured due to the fall.

Any company that manufacturers a product that is "unreasonably dangerous when put to a foreseeable use" may be strictly liable under Illinois law for any injuries that stem from the use of the defective product.
