Keating Law Offices has been retained to represent a Chicago cyclist who was very seriously injured as a result of two separate collisions involving two separate motor vehicles. The driver of the first motor vehicle doored the victim and caused the cyclist to fall to the street. The driver of the second motor vehicle then struck the cyclist in the street and fled from the scene. The victim and his family are requesting assistance from the Chicago bicycle community regarding this incident.
The 27 year-old bicycle courier was critically injured near 1443 N. Milwaukee Avenue in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois on Friday, February 8th, 2013, at approximately 11:40 a.m. The photograph to the left depicts the scene of the incident. Preliminary investigations indicate that the motor vehicle involved in the dooring was parked in roughly the same location as the red car in the photograph.
The bicyclist suffered severe and life-threatening injuries included a fractured skull, punctured lung and broke 23 out of his 24 ribs. The victim, who has shown remarkable resiliency and strength in the face of these injuries, is now recovering in a local hospital but faces a lengthy recovery process.
