Tonight: Critical Mass Halloween Ride and the Chainlink Halloween Party

Chicago's Critical Mass will ride tonight from Chicago's Daley Plaza. While sometimes the subject of a lot of scorn from drivers and the impatient, in my opinion the Critical Mass movement is a great example of the effectiveness of non-violent protest and an exercise of the 1st Amendment. While many Americans can readily tell you that the 1st Amendment provides for Freedom of Speech, they forget that our founding fathers also wanted to protect our ability to freely assemble and to protest government policies. The soul of Critical Mass is overwhelmingly positive: it is to promote bicycling as a legal, safe, and legitimate form of transportation. As anyone who has ever ridden can also tell you, it is a ton of fun and something every Chicagoan should experience.

At the end of tonight's Halloween Ride, the Chainlink is having its annual Halloween Party. The party is at the Bottom Lounge from the end of the Critical Mass ride until late.

Happy Halloween!
